Automatic Sink Analysis
Everyday objects in the workplace are often overlooked but their design can significantly impact the user's experience. This artifact analyzes automatic sinks at Starbucks using design principles like signifiers, affordances, mapping, and feedback. The main goal was to identify the usability issues and understand how the design choices affect user interaction every single day in a real world setting. The analysis focuses on interactions where users experience confusion like unclear sensor placement or inconsistent feedback from the sink. By applying design theory the problems were identified and paired with recommendations for improvement. The analysis was developed in Google Docs and structured to clearly connect the observations to design concepts. This artifact demonstrates the ability to evaluate usability and suggest some practical design improvements.
